Seaman Daniel Battaglia has filed suit against Genesis Energy, alleging he sustained injuries due to the unseaworthiness of the company's vessel.
The suit was filed July 5 in Jefferson County District Court.
According to the lawsuit, on March 5 Battaglia was employed by Genesis serving aboard the vessel MV Clay Griffin when he sustained injuries to his neck, elbow and arm.
The suit does not state how Battaglia was injured.
The suit does allege, however, that the defendant negligently failed to train and supervise its employees.
The plaintiff is suing for his alleged past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain, impairment, lost wages and disfigurement, plus all court costs.
Houston attorney Kurt Arnold of the Arnold & Itkin represents him.
Judge Milton Shuffield, 136th District Court, has been assigned to the case.
