Woman sues man who punched her in the face

China resident Melissa Foreman has filed suit against Groves local Sean Scott, who allegedly punched her in the face.

The suit was filed July 13 in Jefferson County District Court.

According to the lawsuit, on May 1 Scott "intentionally and maliciously hit Melissa Foreman in the face, causing injury."

The suit does not give any details on what occurred before or after Scott allegedly struck Foreman.

"Defendant's conduct in hitting plaintiff was intentional ... and caused plaintiff emotional distress," the suit states.

The plaintiff is suing for her alleged past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain, impairment, disfigurement and lost wages, plus all court costs.

Beaumont attorney Jonathan Stovall of Galmor Stovall represents her.

Judge Donald Floyd, 172nd District Court, has been assigned to the case.
