Jefferson County driver sued over Louisiana wreck

A Louisiana couple has filed suit against the allegedly unlicensed Jefferson County driver who they claim failed to yield the right-of-way at an intersection in Louisiana.

John R. and Glenda Bruno claim they were riding in a vehicle at the intersection of MLK Drive and Interstate 49 in St. Landry's Parish on Aug. 15 when defendant Ella Caesar Wilson failed to yield at a yield sign and struck their vehicle.

Because of the collision, the Brunos experienced physical pain and mental anguish and lost earnings and their earning capacity, according to the complaint filed July 20 in Jefferson County District Court. In addition, they suffered physical disfigurement and physical incapacity, the suit states.

Ella Wilson negligently failed to yield the right-of-way, failed to control her speed, failed to keep a proper lookout, disregarded a traffic sign, drove inattentively and drove in a careless fashion, the complaint says.

The Brunos also name the vehicle's owner, Charles Wilson Sr., as a defendant in the suit, saying he should never have lent his vehicle to Ella Wilson because she lacked a proper Texas driver's license.

In their complaint, the Brunos seek actual damages, plus costs, pre- and post-judgment interest at the legal rate and other relief the court deems just.

The case has been assigned to Judge Gary Sanderson, 60th District Court.
