A Beaumont woman has filed suit against the driver who she claims drove through a red light, striking her vehicle.
Jennifer Fischer claims she was driving near the intersection of Broadway and Magnolia on July 7 when defendant Lashonda Rene Richard, who was driving a 2002 Ford Expedition at the same intersection, failed to obey a red traffic light and struck her vehicle.
Because of the collision, Fischer experienced pain and suffering, lost wages, sustained mental anguish, incurred medical costs and suffered physical disfigurement and physical impairment, according to the complaint filed July 27 in Jefferson County District Court.
Richard negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, drove inattentively, failed to timely apply her brakes, failed to control her speed and failed to yield the right-of-way, the suit states.
In her complaint, Fischer is seeking an unspecified judgment, plus interest at the legal rate, costs and other relief the court deems just.
Joe J. Fisher of Provost and Umphrey Law Firm in Beaumont will be representing her.
The case has been assigned to Judge Gary Sanderson, 60th District Court.
