GALVESTON - Texas City resident Jaslynn Perkins is suing State Farm Lloyds Inc., alleging the insurer has failed to pay full policy benefits in the aftermath of a 2009 two-vehicle accident.

A lawsuit filed Aug. 10 in Galveston County Court at Law No. 2 alleges State Farm denied the plaintiff's claim despite the severity of the injuries.

According to the suit, Perkins was a passenger in a vehicle involved in a fatal wreck in La Marque on March 21, 2009.

Former La Marque resident Jim Howard III collided with the rear of the vehicle which was waiting at a traffic light at the intersection of FM 1765 and Ross Street. Two of the car's teenage occupants were killed.

The accident injured Perkins, then 17, and the driver, court papers say.

According to the original petition, Perkins claims she learned Howard was underinsured and unable to completely cover her damages, so she authorized State Farm to settle.

She moved to recover full benefits to no avail, the suit says.

Consequently, Perkins seeks $50,000 in damages.

The Law Firm of Alton C. Todd is representing the plaintiff, and Galveston County Court at Law No. 2 Judge Barbara Roberts is presiding over the case.

Cause No. 65,806
