A Jefferson County business alleges the co-owner of a mineral leasehold refuses to share oil and gas production profits.
GLS Resources filed a lawsuit Aug. 30 in Jefferson County District Court against Ballard Exploration Co.
In its complaint, GLS claims it owns mineral interests in the Gulf Terrace addition in Beaumont. Its ownership entitled it to proceeds from the production of oil, gas and other minerals on the land, according to the complaint.
Ballard Exploration also owns interest in the land, the suit states. Ballard owns adjacent land in the area and has been producing minerals on both plots of land, the complaint says. However, it has failed to pay GLS for its share of the mineral rights, GLS claims.
"To date Defendant Ballard has not accounted to Plaintiff for production attributable to the property in which Plaintiff and Defendant share undivided leasehold interests," the suit states.
Because of Ballard's actions, GLS has been deprived of money it would have otherwise been entitled to, according to the complaint.
GLS alleges conversion, unjust enrichment and negligence against Ballard.
In its complaint, GLS seeks damages in excess of the minimum jurisdictional limits of Jefferson County District Court, plus costs, expenses and other relief the court deems just.

Judge Bob Wortham, 58th District Court, has been assigned to the case.
