TYLER - A Dallas company has filed a lawsuit asking for more than $160,000 after receiving a ruined cargo shipment of 900 bundles of dog beds.

Dallas Manufacturing Co. Inc., a pet goods manufacturer and distributor, filed suit against Expeditors International Ocean Inc. and Expeditors International of Washington Inc. on Sept. 2 in Henderson County District Court. The defendant removed the case to the Eastern District of Texas, Tyler Division on Sept. 23.

According to court records, the defendants shipped 900 bundles of dog beds in August 2010 from Shanghai, China. During the ocean carriage of the dog beds, the cargo was subjected to sea-water entry and damaged the dog beds.

The plaintiff is asking the court for an award of damages in the amount of $120,374, plus $40,000 in attorney's fees, interest and court costs.

A jury trial is requested.
