A Gold Club patron is suing the exotic dancing establishment for failing "to handle minor disputes without assaulting customers."
Phillip Smith filed suit against Fannett Entertainment, doing business as Gold Club, on Sept. 25 in Jefferson County District Court.
According to the lawsuit, on May 1 Smith was a patron at the Gold Club when bouncers "intentionally" caused him bodily injury.
The suit does not state what prompted the bouncers to take action against Smith.
However, the suit does allege Gold Club negligently failed "to train employees to handle minor disputes, such as the one in question in this case, without assaulting customers."
The plaintiff is suing for his alleged past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain, impairment, disfigurement and lost wages, plus all court costs.
This is the fourth lawsuit filed in 2011 against the Gold Club over injuries to customers by bouncers.
Beaumont attorney Adam Terrell of Weller, Green, Toups & Terrell represents him.
Judge Bob Wortham, 58th District Court, has been assigned to the case.
