Red light runner sued for causing wreck

William McCurley is suing fellow Beaumont resident David James for allegedly running a red light and striking his vehicle.

The suit was filed Oct. 19 in Jefferson County District Court.

According to the lawsuit, on Sept. 6 McCurley was traveling east on Crockett Street when James, who was southbound on Fourth Street, disregarded a red light and collided with his vehicle.

The suit accuses James of negligently failing to obey traffic laws, speeding and failing to keep a proper lookout.

The plaintiff is suing for his alleged past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain, impairment, disfigurement and lost wages, plus all court costs.

Beaumont attorney Clay Dugas represents him.

Judge Bob Wortham, 58th District Court, is assigned to the case.
