Jones Act suit filed against Gulf States Dredging

Kountze resident Robert Slott has filed a Jones Act suit against Gulf States Dredging for injuries he received from a barge wench.

The suit was filed Nov. 14 in Jefferson County District Court.

According to the lawsuit, on Aug. 21 Slott was serving aboard a vessel owned by Gulf States Dredging and claims he was "injured when the wench was engaged while attempting to move the barge in Beaumont on the Neches River."

Slott alleges the defendant failed to provide him with a safe workplace.
