Motion to substitute counsel filed in suit alleging clamp fell on worker's face

A motion to substitute counsel has been filed in a suit alleging a worker sustained injuries when a metal clamp fell on his face.

As previously reported, Gerald Greer filed a suit against his employer, Chemtrade Refinery, and contractors Newtron and Betco Scaffold Erection Company, on Sept. 9 in Jefferson County District Court.

On Nov. 18 Betco Scaffold filed a motion seeking to substitute lead attorney Keith Taunton with attorney Keith Slade.

Both Slade and Taunton are attorneys with the Tucker Taunton Snyder & Slade law firm in Houston, according the motion.

In his suit, Greer claims he was working at defendant Chemtrade Refinery Services's facility on Jan. 26, 2010, when the metal clamp fell on his face.

He alleges the defendants negligently failed to correct the dangerous condition and failed to warn him.

Greer is seeking damages within the jurisdictional limits of Jefferson County District Court, plus pre-judgment interest, costs and other relief the court deems just.

Curtis J. Leister of Reaud, Morgan and Quinn in Beaumont represents him.

Judge Gary Sanderson, 60th District Court, is assigned to the case.
