Customer sues Wal-Mart after falling in checkout line

A Wal-Mart customer has filed a lawsuit claiming she fell while waiting to check out.

Ana Mendoza filed suit against Wal-Mart Stores, Texas on Nov. 14 in Jefferson County District Court. The defendant removed the case to the Eastern District of Texas, Beaumont Division.

On March 19, Mendoza was a customer at Wal-Mart in Beaumont and claims she slipped on a puddle of liquid on the floor while she waited at the register to check out. According to the suit, Mendoza fell and suffered severe injuries, according to the suit.

The defendant is accused of negligence for failing to warn shoppers of the dangerous condition.

The plaintiff is seeking damages for medical care expenses, physical pain, suffering and mental anguish, physical impairment, court costs and interest.

Mendozza is represented by Beaumont attorneys Clint Brasher and Joe Muckleroy.

A jury trial is requested.

U.S. District Judge Marcia A. Crone is assigned to the case.
