A man claims he incurred medical costs after a driver failed to control his speed and rear-ended the man's vehicle.
John Aguilar filed a lawsuit Dec. 13 in Jefferson County District Court against Stephen Mulle.
In his complaint, Aguilar claims Mulle was driving behind his vehicle while Aguilar was driving in Jefferson County on Dec. 7. Suddenly, Mulle failed to control his speed and struck Aguilar's vehicle, according to the complaint.
In addition to his medical costs, Aguilar experienced physical pain, suffering, physical impairment, disfigurement and mental anguish and lost his earnings and his earning capacity because of the collision, the suit states.
He blames Mulle for causing the collision, saying he negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to keep a safe distance between his vehicle and Aguilar's and drove too fast.
In his complaint, Aguilar seeks a judgment in excess of the minimum limits of Jefferson County District Court, plus pre- and post-judgment interest, costs and other relief the court deems just.
Chris M. Portner and J. Trenton Bond of Portner Bond in Beaumont will be representing him.
Judge Bob Wortham, 58th District Court, has been assigned to the case.
