Woman dismisses suit against man who punched her in the face

China resident Melissa Foreman has dismissed her claims against Groves local Sean Scott, who she sued after he allegedly punched her in the face.

As previously reported, the suit was filed July 13 in Jefferson County District Court.

Court records show that on Sept. 8 Foreman filed a motion to dismiss, stating that the parties have resolved their differences.

The following day, Judge Donald Floyd, 172nd District Court, dismissed Scott with prejudice.

The suit alleged that on May 1 Scott "intentionally and maliciously hit Melissa Foreman in the face, causing injury."

"Defendant's conduct in hitting plaintiff was intentional ... and caused plaintiff emotional distress," the suit states.

Foreman was suing for her alleged past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain, impairment, disfigurement and lost wages, plus all court costs.

Beaumont attorney Jonathan Stovall of Galmor Stovall represented her.
