Family sues motorist who failed to yield the right of way

An area family is suing the man they allege failed to yield the right of way at a stop sign and struck their vehicle.

Dedric, Precious and Alizeiah Davis filed suit against Ronald Manning on Dec. 29 in Jefferson County District Court.

According to the lawsuit, on Oct. 13 the plaintiffs were traveling north on Spur 380 in Beaumont when Manning, who entered the intersection from Gulf Street, failed to yield the right away at a stop sign and collided with their vehicle.

The suit further accuses Manning of negligently failing to keep a proper lookout and failing to apply his brakes in a timely manner.

The plaintiffs are suing for their past and future medical expenses, impairment, mental anguish and lost wages, plus all court costs.

Beaumont attorney Ernest Browne Jr. represents the family.

Judge Bob Wortham, 58th District Court, is assigned to the case.
