A Beaumont woman claims she suffered serious injuries after a driver backed into her vehicle.
Cherry C. Collins filed a lawsuit Dec. 21 in Jefferson County District Court against John E. Turner.
In her complaint, Collins alleges she was stopped when Turner unexpectedly put his car into reverse and struck her vehicle on Oct. 18, 2010.
In addition to her injuries, Collins incurred medical costs, experienced physical pain and suffering and sustained mental anguish, according to the complaint. She also lost her earning capacity and suffered disfigurement, the suit states.
Collins blames Turner for causing the collision, saying he negligently failed to control his speed, drove too fast, failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to maintain a safe distance between his vehicle and Collins's and failed to swerve to avoid a collision, among other negligent acts.
In her complaint, Collins seeks actual damages, pre- and post-judgment interest at the highest legal rate, costs and other relief the court deems just.
