Suit claims driver backed into vehicle

While waiting to enter traffic, Mark Jenkins claims Jedd Tate backed up and hit his vehicle.

On Feb. 13 Jenkins filed suit against Tate in Jefferson County District Court.

According to the lawsuit, on March 10, 2011, Tate was traveling on Phelan Blvd. As he passed the entrance to Comic Kingdom, Tate stopped and backed his vehicle into a vehicle driven by Jenkins, who was stopped at the store's entrance waiting for traffic to clear on Phelan.

The suit accuses Tate of negligently failing to pay attention and drive in a safe manner.

The plaintiff is suing for his alleged past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain, impairment, disfigurement and lost wages, plus all court costs.

Beaumont attorney Ryan Scott represents him.

Judge Milton Shuffield, 136th District Court, is assigned to the case.
