United Petroleum Transports sued for trucker's collision

Two years ago, Harris County resident Wency Burton claims Charmaine Shay, who was driving a semi-truck owned by United Petroleum Transports, pulled out from a private and caused a collision.

On Feb. 24 Burton filed suit against Shay and UPT in Jefferson County District Court.

According to the lawsuit, on Feb. 27, 2010, Burton was driving her vehicle in Harris County when Shay pulled out from a private drive in front of her.

The suit does not state where exactly the collision occurred.

The suit also states that venue is proper in Harris County because the incident occurred in that county and fails to state why the suit was filed in Jefferson County.

In her suit, Burton accuses Shay of negligently failing to keep a proper lookout.

The plaintiff is suing for her alleged past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain, impairment, disfigurement and lost wages, plus all court costs.

Houston attorney Troy Greene represents her.

Judge Gary Sanderson, 6oth District Court, is assigned to the case.

Case No. B192-017
