Community Bank sues couple for not making checking deposits

Parsons

Community Bank of Texas claims it has suffered more than $3,000 in actual damages because Alford and Mendy McGhee failed to make deposits into their checking account.

The bank filed suit against the Harris County couple on March 22 in Jefferson County District Court.

According to the lawsuit, Community Bank entered into a checking account agreement with the defendants on Feb. 26, 2010.

"Defendants ... have defaulted on the terms of the agreement by failing to make deposits into (the) account," the suit states, adding that the couple breached their contract by doing so and now owe $3,152.22.

Community Bank is suing for actual damages and additional $1,500 for attorney's fees.

Attorney John Parsons of the Beaumont law firm Lindsay, Lindsay & Parsons represents the lender.

Judge Donald Floyd, 172nd District Court, is assigned to the case.
