December trial slated in Union Pacific worker injury case

A December trial is slated in a personal injury suit against Union Pacific Railroad Co.

As previously reported, Beaumont resident Walter Williams III filed suit against his employer, UPR, on Oct. 25 in Jefferson County District Court, claiming occupational injuries.

Court records show that on April 17 a discovery control plan order was entered in the case, calling for the suit to be mediated before or on Nov. 12.

If the suit is not mediated, the parties are set for a December trial date.

The suit alleges Williams experienced cumulative trauma throughout his career with UP. However, the suit does not describe Williams' alleged injuries, nor does the suit say how UP negligently caused them.

Williams is suing for past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain, impairment, disfigurement and lost wages, plus all court costs, according to the suit.

Houston attorneys Steve Young and John Tavormina represent him.

Judge Bob Wortham, 58th District Court, is assigned to the case.
