After she slipped and fell while shopping at a Port Arthur Wal-Mart, a Jefferson County woman has filed a lawsuit that claims that the store failed to maintain the floor in a safe condition.
Corniece N. Young filed suit against Wal-Mart Stores Inc., Wal-Mart Supercenter #408, and Marguerite Collins on March 12 in Jefferson County District Court. The defendants removed the case to Beaumont Division, Eastern District of Texas on April 18.
The incident occurred on March 12, 2010, at a Wal-Mart located in Port Arthur. While shopping, Young slipped in a substance on the floor and was injured, the lawsuit states.

The plaintiff is asking for an award of damages for medical expenses, physical pain and suffering, mental anguish, physical impairment, loss of earnings, loss of earning capacity, disfigurement, interest and court costs.

U.S. District Judge Ron Clark is assigned to the case.
