By David Yates | May 23, 2012

Varner Development has filed suit against the owners of Surfside Flooring, seeking to collect back rent.

The suit, filed May 15 in Jefferson County District Court, names Charles, Kathy and Christopher Ehrhardt as defendants.

According to the lawsuit, on Nov. 1, 2010, Varner entered into an agreement with Surfside to lease property on Crystal Beach.

"Surfside Flooring failed to pay rent, abandoned the property and was subsequently evicted," the suit states, adding that the defendants failed to honor their contract.

Varner is suing for actual damages and attorney's fees.

Beaumont attorney Chris Portner of Portner Bond represents the company.

Judge Donald Floyd, 172nd District Court, is assigned to the case.
