Glenn takes over as Galveston County district clerk

GALVESTON - The Galveston County District Clerk's Office recently underwent a changing of the guard.

Doryn Danner Glenn was sworn in May 8 as the successor to Jason Murray, who submitted his resignation amid mounting legal troubles last month.

Murray, 37, vacated the post in response to personal and legal matters, which include a pending divorce, a domestic violence charge and an arrest for driving under the influence of prescription pills after two consecutive automobile accidents in League City.

He came into office as part of the Republican sweep in virtually every countywide election in November 2010.

His resignation came just before County Judge Mark Henry's office filed the necessary paperwork to remove him from office.

According to Murray, he decided to step down because he had become a "distraction."

Glenn, 45, was chosen by unanimous vote by the county's six district court judges, who met the afternoon of May 4 to discuss the future of the office.

56th District Court Judge Lonnie Cox had his motion to accept Murray's resignation approved while the judges gave the green light to 212th District Court Judge Susan Criss's motion to put Glenn to work as of May 9.

Glenn is no stranger to the district clerk's office, having worked there for at least 30 years.

A family law attorney and the spouse of new Galveston County Bar Association head Bill Glenn, she was the office's director of governmental affairs prior to her latest appointment.
