Couple sues to recover settlement

By Kelly Holleran | Jun 14, 2012

Two people filed court documents in hopes of receiving money they say is due to them per a settlement.

Terry Daniels and Janet Daniels Houston filed a lawsuit June 4 in Jefferson County District Court against Kent and Larry Batman.

In their complaint, the plaintiffs allege the defendants owe them money after defaulting on a loan. However, the Batmans failed to pay the money due, so the plaintiffs reached a settlement agreement with the defendants, according to the complaint.

In their current petition, the plaintiffs want the court to award them damages within the jurisdictional limits of Jefferson County District Court, plus pre- and post-judgment interest, attorney's fees, costs and other relief the court deems just.

Bill Richey of Griffin and Matthews in Beaumont will be representing them.

Judge Milton Shuffield, 136th District Court, has been assigned to the case.

Case No. D192-529
