Beaumont locals Fredrick and Tameka Semien have filed suit against Diane Horne for failing to yield the right of way and striking their vehicle.

The suit was filed June 20 in Jefferson County District Court.

According to the lawsuit, on Oct. 8 the plaintiffs were traveling on N. Major Drive when Semien pulled out of a private drive while attempting to turn left and collided with their vehicle.

Fredrick injured his lower back and shoulder while Tameka suffered injuries to her neck and shoulder.

The suit further accuses the defendant of negligently failing to keep a proper lookout and maintain a safe distance between vehicles.

The plaintiffs are suing for their alleged past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain, impairment and lost wages, plus all court costs.

Beaumont attorney James Payne of Provost Umphrey represents them.

Judge Milton Shuffield, 136th District Court, is assigned to the case.
