Latest suits against insurance companies filed in Jefferson County

A total of four new complaints were filed in Jefferson County District Court against insurance companies during the week of June 11-15.

The following complaints were filed:

  • Jules Avard of 560 Parson Drive in Beaumont alleges Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied his claim for water, hail, windstorm and mold damages caused to his property after a massive storm struck on June 11. Avard will be represented by Joe M. Williams of The Law Offices of Joe M. Williams and Associates in Houston. Jefferson County District Court case number: D192-553.

  • Roy Parker of 3950 Baldwin St. in Beaumont alleges Geovera Specialty Insurance Company denied his claim for roof and water damages caused to his property after a wind and hail storm struck on June 6, 2011. Parker will be represented by Paul A. Smith Jr. and Carlos E. Solis of Solis and Smith in San Antonio. Jefferson County District Court case number: D192-573.

  • Cornelius and Betty Taylor of 1015 Welford Ave. in Port Arthur allege State Farm Lloyds and State Farm Insurance Centralized Catastrophe Services minimized their claim for wind damages caused to their property on Jan. 9, 2012, May 26, 2009, and Sept. 13, 2008. Following the damages, State Farm hired adjusters Daniel Martin and Gary Hastings to adjust the claim, which caused their damages to be minimized, according to the complaint. The Taylors will be represented by John Pat Parsons of Lindsay, Lindsay and Parsons in Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: E192-559.

  • Michael Williams of 5435 Landry Lane in Beaumont alleges Geovera Specialty Insurance Company denied his claim for roof and water damages caused to his property after a wind and hail storm struck on June 6, 2011. Williams will be represented by Paul A. Smith Jr. and Carlos E. Solis of Solis and Smith in San Antonio. Jefferson County District Court case number: A192-572.
