Sewage damages Port Arthur home, city sued

Bradley

Port Arthur resident Darlene Goudeaux is suing the city, alleging a sewage backup damaged her home.

The suit was filed June 28 in Jefferson County District Court.

According to the lawsuit, on April 14 Goudeaux suffered extensive damage to her Port Arthur home when raw sewage flooded her floors. She notified the city of the back up and two city employees came to her residence the following day.

Allegedly, the men told her the problem was due to the city's sanitation line.

The suit faults the city for negligently failing to inspect and maintain its sanitation line.

The plaintiff is suing for the damages suffered to her property.

She is represented by Lance Bradley, an attorney for the McPherson, Hughes, Bradley, Wimberley, Steele & Chatelain law firm in Beaumont.

Judge Donald Floyd, 172nd District Court, is assigned to the case.
