Woman sues over Port Neches wreck

A Jefferson County woman claims she and a minor girl sustained pain and suffering after a driver struck the vehicle in which they were riding.

Christina T. Sonnier filed a lawsuit Aug. 9 in Jefferson County District Court against Annie S. Lange.

In her complaint, Sonnier claims she and minor Krysten S. Sonnier were riding in a vehicle traveling in the 800 block of Magnolia Avenue in Port Neches on Sept. 15, 2010, when Lange struck the automobile.

Because of the collision, the Sonniers incurred medical costs; experienced physical pain, suffering and mental anguish; and suffered physical impairment, according to the complaint.

Lange negligently drove too fast, failed to exercise due care, failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to timely apply her brakes, failed to keep her vehicle under proper control, failed to swerve to avoid a collision, failed to use her horn to warn others of an impending collision and followed Sonnier's vehicle too closely, the suit states.

In her complaint, Sonnier is seeking an unspecified judgment, plus costs, pre- and post-judgment interest and other relief the court deems just.

Jeffrey C. Chilton of Packard Lapray in Beaumont will be representing her.

The case has been assigned to Judge Milton Shuffield, 136th District Court.
