James Edward Williams has filed suit against three companies he claims failed to provide him with a safe work environment when an explosion occurred, injuring him.

The suit was filed Aug. 29 in Jefferson County District Court and names Brammer Engineering, Streamline Production Systems and Kinder Morgan Louisiana Pipeline as defendants.

According to the lawsuit, on Nov. 14, 2011, Williams was dispatched to a location operated by Brammer to perform work for the defendants when an explosion occurred, injuring him.

The suit does not state how the explosion occurred or what Williams was doing at the time of the incident.

However, the suit does accuse the defendants of failing to inspect and maintain the work site and provide him with a safe work environment.

The plaintiff is suing for his alleged past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain, impairment, disfigurement and lost wages, plus all court costs.

Attorney Matthew Morgan of the Beaumont law firm Reaud, Morgan & Quinn represents him.

Judge Milton Shuffield, 136th District Court, is assigned to the case.
