A trial is underway in litigation brought by a Beaumont man who sued the driver who he claims failed to yield the right-of-way, causing a collision.
John McZeal Jr. claims he was driving on Proctor Street in Port Arthur on Aug. 14, 2010, when defendant Keosha Pitre ran into him, according to the complaint filed May 12, 2011, in Jefferson County District Court.
Jury selection in the case began Monday, Oct. 8, in Judge Bob Wortham’s 58th District Court.
During the trial, McZeal will try to convince jurors that Pitre negligently drove too fast, failed to yield the right-of-way, failed to keep a proper lookout and failed to stay in her lane.
Mc Zeal is asking jurors to award him damages for his incurred medical costs, lost wages and his earning capacity and experienced mental anguish, physical pain, suffering and physical impairment.
Clay Dugas of Beaumont represents him.
