Woman claims injuries following rear-end collision

Rearend

An Orange woman has filed suit against the driver who she claims rear-ended her vehicle.

Brittany Alexander claims she was riding in a vehicle that was attempting to make a right-hand turn into a private drive in the 6300 block of Phelan in Beaumont on Nov. 28 when defendant Veronica Lara Hinojos, who was driving east, failed to control her speed and struck the back of the vehicle in which Alexander was riding.

Because of the collision, Alexander incurred medical costs, experienced physical pain and suffering and endured physical impairment, according to the complaint filed in Jefferson County District Court. She also lost her earning capacity and suffered mental anguish, the suit states.

Hinojos negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to turn to avoid a collision, failed to keep a safe distance between her vehicle and Alexander’s, drove too fast and failed to apply her brakes in a timely manner, the complaint says.

In her complaint, Alexander is seeking a judgment within the jurisdictional limits of Jefferson County District Court, plus pre-judgment interest at the maximum rate allowed by law, post-judgment interest at the legal rate, cost and other relief the court deems just.

Barrett P. Lindsay of Lindsay, Lindsay and Parsons in Beaumont will be representing her.

The case has been assigned to Judge Milton Shuffield, 136th District Court.
