Suit says Port Arthur residents owe company more than $40,000

A Beaumont corporation has filed suit against the two Port Arthur residents who it claims have failed to repay it more than $40,000.

Petrotex Fuels claims it lent Mansehra money. Defendants Ahmed Fayyaz and Shaista Fayyaz guaranteed that the money lent to Mansehra would be repaid, according to the complaint filed Nov. 19 in Jefferson County District Court.

Since then, Mansehra has declared bankruptcy, so the Fayyazes now owe Petrotex the money, the suit states. However, they have failed to pay the money, the complaint says.

“The sum of $48,424.13 is owed to plaintiff under the terms of the agreement,” the suit states.

In addition to the amount of money it claims the defendants owe it, Petrotex is seeking pre- and post-judgment interest, attorney’s fees, costs and other relief the court deems just.

J. Matthew Marchak of MehaffyWeber in Beaumont will be representing it.

The case has been assigned to Judge Donald Floyd, 172nd District Court.
