Barbara Morgan has filed a petition to perpetuate the testimony of John Morgan, who may have been exposed to benzene while working for Mobil Oil.

The petition was filed Dec. 6 in Jefferson County District Court.

According to the petition, Morgan was diagnosed with a serious blood disorder that is expected to prove fatal.

“Mr. Morgan’s serious condition was a result of exposure to benzene and benzene-containing substances during his employment with Mobil Oil Corporation,” the petition states.

The petition seeks Morgan’s employment and exposure history. A wrongful death suit is expected to be initiated.

Provost Umphrey attorney D’Juana Parks of Beaumont represents the petitioners.

Judge Donald Floyd, 172nd District Court, is assigned to the case.
