A woman claims her insurance company refuses to adequately compensate her for injuries she allegedly sustained during a collision.

Betty S. Taylor filed a lawsuit Feb. 5 in Jefferson County District Court against Southern County Mutual Insurance Co.

In her complaint, Taylor alleges Thomas Henry Butcher struck her vehicle after he disregarded a red light on March 14. In turn, Taylor suffered injuries to her hip, back and legs, according to the complaint.

Following the collision, Taylor requested Southern County pay for her injuries, the suit states. However, the insurance company refuses to adequately compensate her, the complaint says.

In her complaint, Taylor seeks a judgment in excess of the minimum jurisdictional limits of Jefferson County District Court, plus pre-judgment interest at the maximum rate allowed by law, post-judgment interest at the legal rate, costs and other relief the court deems just.

Kenneth W. Lewis and W. Don Bush of Bush Lewis in Beaumont will be representing her.

Judge Donald Floyd, 172nd District Court, has been assigned to the case.
