Medical records filed in slip & fall suit against Wal-Mart

Medical records have been filed in litigation brought by Corniece Young, who filed a slip-and-fall lawsuit against Wal-Mart Stores.

As previously reported, the suit was filed March 12, 2012, in Jefferson County District Court and also named Marguerite Collins, a Wal-Mart manager, as a defendant.

Court records show that a certificate of discovery was filed Feb. 18, containing Young’s medical bills and records.

The lawsuit alleges that on March 12, 2010, Young was shopping at the Port Arthur Wal-Mart when she slipped on a slippery substance.

Young accuses the defendants of failing to inspect and maintain the premises and warn shoppers of the hazardous condition.

She is suing for her alleged past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain, impairment, disfigurement and lost wages, plus all court costs.

Houston attorney James Lassiter III represents her.

Judge Milton Shuffield, 136th District Court, is assigned to the case.

Case No. D192-173
