An allegedly intoxicated driver struck a parked vehicle, pushing it into a minor child and causing painful bodily injuries to the child, according to recently filed court documents.
Juan Munoz filed a lawsuit on behalf of minor Anjelica Norris on Feb. 25 in Jefferson County District Court against Lawrence Lee Madaffri.
In his complaint, Munoz claims Madaffri was driving in Jefferson County on Dec. 10, 2011, when he struck a parked vehicle and pushed it into Norris.
Because of the collision, in addition to her injuries, Norris incurred medical costs, experienced physical pain and suffering and endured physical impairment, according to the complaint filed Feb. 25 in Jefferson County District Court. Norris also endured mental anguish, the suit states.
Munoz blames Madaffri for causing the collision, saying he negligently drove while under the influence of drugs or alcohol, failed to keep a proper lookout, drove too fast, lacked proper control of his vehicle, failed to drive within a single lane and made an unsafe lane change.
In his complaint, Munoz is seeking a judgment in excess of the minimum jurisdictional limits of Jefferson County District Court, plus pre- and post-judgment interest, court costs and other relief to which he may be entitled.
