A total of ­­five new lawsuits against insurance companies over hurricane and windstorm damage claims were filed in Jefferson County District Court, Feb. 4-8, 2013.

The following complaints were filed: 

• Roslyn Forward of 9435 Gardner Road in Beaumont alleges Capitol County Mutual Fire Insurance Co. mishandled her claim for damages caused to her property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13, 2008. Forward will be represented by Bill L. Voss and Scott G. Hunziker of The Voss Law Firm in The Woodlands. Jefferson County District Court case number: B193-916.

• Michael and Jada Kamp of 9307 Glynn Lane in Beaumont allege Texas Windstorm Insurance Association and Reggie Warren denied their claim for roof and water damages caused to their home during Hurricane Ike on Sept. 13, 2008. The Kamps will be represented by J. Steve Mostyn of The Mostyn Law Firm in Houston. Jefferson County District Court case number: E193-934.

• Rogelio and Elvia Sifuentes of 4415 Holst in Beaumont allege Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied their claim for damages caused to their property during Hurricane Ike on Sept. 13, 2008. The Sifuenteses will be represented by Mitchell A. Toups of Weller, Green, Toups and Terrell in Beaumont and by J. Steve Mostyn of The Mostyn Law Firm in Houston. • Gary Taylor of 8725 Braeburn in Beaumont alleges Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied his claim for damages caused to his property during Hurricane Ike on Sept. 13, 2008. Taylor will be represented by Mitchell A. Toups of Weller, Green, Toups and Terrell in Beaumont and by J. Steve Mostyn of The Mostyn Law Firm in Houston. • Elda Vargas of 3031 Sixth Street in Port Arthur alleges Southern Vanguard Insurance Co. denied her claim for roof and water damages caused to her property after a severe windstorm struck on Jan. 29, 2012. Jefferson County District Court case number: D193-914
