Nuvell Credit awarded $15K default judgment

Nuvell Credit Co. has been awarded a default judgment against Beaumont resident Joe Jackson, who allegedly owes more than $14,000 on a past due auto loan.

As previously reported, the suit was filed Feb. 23, 2012, in Jefferson County District Court.

Court records show that on June 19, Nuvell filed a motion for default judgment, asserting that Jackson had failed to file a timely answer.

On July 24 Judge Gary Sanderson, 6oth District Court, granted the motion, awarding Nuvell $14,148, plus $910 in attorney’s fees.

The lawsuit alleged that on Sept. 25, 2006, Jackson purchased a 2007 Chevrolet LD Crew from JK Chevrolet for $25,725.

Nuvell Credit eventually purchased the note.

“Defendant failed to perform the obligations under the contract is now wholly in default,” the suit states, adding that unpaid balance of the contract is $14,148.

The suit alleged Jackson breached his contract.

Dallas attorney Kimber Hartmann of Beasley, Hightower & Hartmann represents the company.
