Alleging she slipped and fell in a puddle of water while shopping at Wal-Mart, Lydia White has filed suit against the mega retailer.

The suit was filed March 27 in Jefferson County District Court.

According to the lawsuit, on Sept. 11, 2012, White was shopping at the Wal-Mart in Lumberton. While walking down an aisle, she slipped in a puddle of water, injuring her right knee.

The suit does not state what county White resides in or why venue is proper in Jefferson County. The event happened in Lumberton which is in Hardin County.

However, the suit does accuse Wal-Mart of gross negligence, entitling White to exemplary damage.

White further alleges Wal-Mart had a duty to inspect and maintain its premises.

She is also suing for her medical expenses.

Attorney Jerry Easley of the Pearland law firm Bristol Baxley represents her.

Judge Bob Wortham, 58th District Court, is assigned to the case.
