A slip-and-fall lawsuit against Bruce’s Market Basket and B.T. Enterprises has been settled.
As previously reported, Groves resident Melissa LeBlanc filed the suit Oct. 25, 2011, in Jefferson County District Court.
Court records show that on Aug. 13 a final judgment was entered in the case, stating that the parties settled and compromised the suit.
According to the lawsuit, on Sept. 23, 2010, LeBlanc was shopping at the Groves Market Basket with her son. As she rounded the aisle in front of the meat department, she slipped “on a great deal of water that had gathered from an employee spraying down the department.”
The suit alleged that LeBlanc landed on her left kneecap, sustaining a fracture to her patella.
The suit accused the defendants of negligently causing the incident in question and for negligently failing to correct the dangerous condition.
LeBlanc was suing for her alleged past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain, impairment, disfigurement and lost wages, plus all court costs.
Beaumont attorney Jessica Hallmark of Dunham Hallmark represented her.
Judge Donald Floyd, 172nd District Court, presided over the case.
