League City man sues electric company worker following alleged confrontation

GALVESTON - An alleged confrontation between two local men more than a year ago has resulted in a lawsuit.

Court papers filed May 23 in Galveston County District Court allege Robert Cleveland Knight II threatened Mark Young at the latter's League City home on or around Dec. 15, 2011.

The incident began when Knight, an employee with Texas-New Mexico Power Co., went to the property which Young shares with his brother to disconnect the electricity supposedly on instructions from TXU Energy.

The plaintiff informed the defendant that financial arrangements were made at the time to prevent the service from being disrupted, but the worker proceeded to an alternate location to try to cut the power, the suit says.

Young, who was nursing a leg injury, asserts Knight acted belligerently and continued to ignore him.

When Young tapped Knight on the shoulder, according to the original petition, the respondent remarked how he would "knock the blood clot out of you and knock you out" should the complainant touch him again.

The exchange continued with Knight ultimately disconnecting the electricity and purportedly telling Young that "this is not over," to which the plaintiff perceived as a threat.

"Knight continues his unreasonable aggression by making false allegations against Young," the suit says.

"Knight was not assaulted verbally or, much less, by any type of contact; however, Knight still unreasonably pursues Young, totally without merit and with obvious malicious intent toward Young."

It further states that the respondent "has probably had similar problematic encounters with other customers and that he initiates the conflict in order to gain some type of benefit from the incident."

Consequently, the complainant seeks unspecified monetary damages.

He is representing himself, and Galveston County 212th District Court Judge Susan Criss is presiding over the case.

Case No. 13-CV-710
