HOUSTON - Pasadena resident Stephen Rhodes has filed a lawsuit against his employers after they allegedly terminated him for suffering numerous health problems.
Rhodes initiated the litigation targeting Jacobs Field Services North America Inc. and Merichem Co. in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas on May 29.
The suit shows the defendants employed the plaintiff as a lead man/supervisor at the time of the events in question.
He asserts that his ordeal began in or around June 2011 when the companies demoted him back to fitter on grounds he has "health and blood pressure issues."
Rhodes claims he was not diagnosed with high blood pressure but does suffer from diabetes for which the respondents purportedly mistreated him.
Management received a complaint from the plaintiff, but his relationship with his supervisor deteriorated, the original petition says.
It adds the defendants fired him on Sept. 2, 2011, because they "did not have enough work" for Rhodes, who insists their actions were "intentionally discriminatory."
A jury trial is requested.
