Creekwood Court has been awarded a default judgment of more than $200,000 in its suit against a former employee, Robert Strahan, who allegedly stole tenant deposits.
As previously reported, the suit was filed May 11, 2012, in Jefferson County District Court.
Court records show that on Jan. 23 the plaintiff filed a motion for default judgment, stating the defendant has not filed an answer.
The following day, Judge Gary Sanderson, 6oth District Court, awarded the plaintiff $218,675 in actual damages and $4,750 in attorney’s fees.
The lawsuit alleged that Strahan, while employed by Creekwood, stole tenant deposits and rental monies belonging to the company.
The suit did not give dates of employment, state when the alleged thefts occurred or say how much was stolen.
Creekwood was suing for actual damages.
The plaintiff was represented by attorney Michael Lindsay of the Beaumont law firm Lindsay, Lindsay & Parsons.
