GALVESTON - Accusing a Texas City resident of breach of contract, Galveston County has filed a lawsuit.
The lawsuit, filed July 17 in Galveston County District Court, claims Louis Blair agreed to reside in a home built by the plaintiff with funds from the Community Block Grant Program, but failed to uphold his word.
Court documents reveal that Blair and the complainant entered into a series of agreements in November 2011 which called for the defendant to move out of his home at Bay Street in Texas City in exchange for a new residence.
It was then determined that Blair was living in a blast zone area for local industry so another agreement was reached in which he would exchange the land in question for that on N. Louisiana Street, which was owned by the Texas City Economic Development Corp.
The trade occurred toward the end of last year, and the construction of the subject house was completed a few months later.
Galveston County asserts that Blair, however, "has refused to take possession of or occupy the home as required by the agreements he executed."
According to the suit, he also resisted to vacating the property he reportedly consented to swapping.
Consequently, the complainant seeks the rescission of the aforementioned agreements.
