A woman claims she suffered a spinal injury after a driver rear-ended her vehicle.
Chelsea McGill filed a lawsuit July 17 in Jefferson County District Court against Hartman Building Specialties and Ricky Lynn Snider.
In her complaint, McGill claims she was stopped at a red light on the inside lane in the 4100 block of College Street in Beaumont on March 5, 2012, when Snider, who was driving in the eastbound lane of the same street for her employer, Hartman, unexpectedly struck the back of McGill’s vehicle.
“The impact was so severe that plaintiff’s vehicle then struck the vehicle in front of her,” the suit states.
In addition to her spinal injury, McGill incurred medical costs; experienced pain, suffering and mental anguish; and lost wages because of the collision, the complaint says. She also claims she suffered physical impairment.
McGill blames Snider for causing the collision, saying he negligently failed to have a valid Texas driver’s license, failed to control his speed, failed to maintain a proper lookout, failed to timely apply his brakes, failed to drive in a safe manner and failed to maintain control of his vehicle.
In her complaint, McGill seeks an unspecified judgment, plus pre- and post-judgment interest at the highest rate allowed by law, costs and other relief the court deems just.
