Injunction sought to stop city from demolishing Beaumont home

Mary Williams has filed a petition for temporary restraining order and permanent injunction to stop the city of Beaumont from demolishing her property.

The petition was filed Aug. 27 in Jefferson County District Court.

According to the petition, Williams is the owner of a residence at 610 E. Gill Street in Beaumont.

On Aug. 5, despite Williams’ protest, the city concluded the structure had not been repaired in accordance with city standards in the time allotted, slating the property for demolition.

Williams maintains she is in the process of repairing the property and a restraining order will grant her the time she needs to continue repairs without interruption.

Beaumont attorney Eddie Schroeder represents her.

Judge Gary Sanderson, 60th District Court, is assigned to the case.
