A family partnership claims two people failed to pay it more than $40,000 it lent to them.
M.T. Alford Family Limited Partnership filed a lawsuit in Jefferson County District Court against Josefina Vergara Gonsalez and Arturo Hernandez Lopez.
In its complaint, M.T. Alford alleges it lent the defendants $47,400 on Oct. 9, 2007, to purchase a property at 895 Boyd St. in Beaumont. However, the partnership failed to repay the money, according to the complaint.
“As a result of the defendants’ default, the plaintiff has been damaged in the sum of $44,505.87 as unpaid principal, plus attorneys’ fees,” the suit states.
In addition to the money it claims it is owed, M.T. Alford seeks attorney’s fees of $5,000, costs, post-judgment interest, foreclosure of its lien and other relief the court deems just.
Eddie R. Schroeder of Beaumont will be representing it.
Judge Bob Wortham, 58th District Court, has been assigned to the case.
