HOUSTON - Two Southeast Texas women have filed a lawsuit over a two-vehicle accident in Baytown last summer with an alleged drunk driver.
Harris County resident Cathy Nabors and Hardin County resident Minnie White are suing Beaumont, Calif., resident William Bruce and car rental business Simply Wheelz in response to the June 28, 2013, collision in question.
The suit was filed Sept. 19, 2013 in Harris County District Court.
Houston federal court received the case on Jan. 3.
Court documents show Nabors and her three minor children were traveling in a 2005 Chrysler Pacifica belonging to White, stating the vehicle was waiting on a red light at the intersection of Emmet Hutto Boulevard and Baker Road just before the subject event.
Meanwhile, Bruce, doing business as Bb Construction, drove behind them in a 2013 Chevrolet Malibu he rented from Simply Wheelz near Hobby Airport.
According to the suit, Bruce then "violently" rear-ended Nabors.
It further explains that Bruce "initially sat in his car and then got out and began walking away from the scene."
"A lady that witnessed the accident called the police and once they arrived, defendant William Bruce was arrested for driving while intoxicated," the suit says.
A jury trial is requested.
Attorney James E. Simmons of the Law Office of James E. Simmons in Sugar Land is representing the complainants.
