Man sues over collision injuries

A Galveston County man is suing a driver over injuries he claims were from a collision.

George Sims III filed a lawsuit Feb. 3 in the Galveston County District Court against Maria Gavarrete, citing negligence.

The lawsuit states Sims was traveling west on Avenue J taking the exit to 61st Street and Gavarrete was traveling west on Avenue J in the far right lane when she attempted to switch lanes at the exit street, crossing double white lines and striking Sims’ vehicle. Sims sustained severe and permanent injuries, according to the complaint.

Sims is seeking between $100,000 and $200,000 in damages, pre-judgment and post-judgment interest, plus court costs.

He is being represented by Russell G. Burwell III of Burwell Nebout Trial Lawyers in Texas City.
