Strowmatt Rehabilitation Services, employee sued over negligence claims

A Galveston resident is suing after sustaining injuries when the vehicle he was operating veered into a ditch.

Michael Thiel II filed a lawsuit Feb. 19 in the Galveston County District Court against Ann St-John and Strowmatt Rehabilitation Services Inc., citing negligence. 

According to the company website, Strowmatt is a Houston owned and operated business serving the needs of individuals with special driving needs. It states the company is licensed with the Texas Education Agency and the occupational therapists are certified driving rehabilitation specialists. 

 

On Aug. 5, 2013, the lawsuit states, Thiel was being instructed by Ann St-John, an employee of Strowmatt, on how to drive a vehicle using a specialized driving control system.

During the training session, the suit states the equipment stopped working three times and when Thiel attempted to apply the brake, he claims the vehicle failed to stop, causing the vehicle to veer into a ditch.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants' negligence caused his injuries and damages.

Thiel is seeking damages within the of the jurisdictional limits of the Court.

The plaintiff is being represented in the case by attorney Carlos Garza of Martin, Garza & Fisher PLLC.
